Bread Stuffing


  • 12 cups bread cubes (1 lb = 8 cups)
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup onion (chopped)
  • 1-1/2 cups celery (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon sage
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt


Melt butter (or margarine) in large saucepan. Add onions, celery, and all the seasonings. Simmer and stir occasionally until celery and onions are cooked through. Combine cooked butter mixture with bread cubes in large mixing bowl. You may need to add bread cubes in stages. Add water if you desire a more moiste stuffing. Time to get your hands dirty and stuff the turkey or whatever meat you are stuffing. Make sure to add additional cook time for stuff meats.
