Peach Cobbler


  • ½ Cup Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
  • ¼ Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 4 Cups of Fresh, Sliced, Pealed Peaches (or 32 oz. Frozen)
  • 1 Teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • 3 Tablespoon Shortening
  • 1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 1-½ Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Salt
  • ½ Cup Milk


Preheat oven to 400°. Mix ½ cup sugar, cornstarch, and nutmeg in saucepan. Stir in peaches and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Pour into 2-quart casserole dish. Cut shortening into flour. Add 1 tablespoon sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Stir in milk. Drop by spoonfuls over peach mixture. Bake 25-30 minutes or until top is golden-brown.
